Nelson Technology is currently seeking a Senior Security/Network Engineer for hot SaaS Helpdesk company. This is a direct hire opportunity located in San Francisco.
Compensation: $150,000 + annually

Reporting to the Company’s Security Officer, the Security Engineer is an integral part of the team, helping to ensure the security of the company's SaaS Helpdesk solution. The individual will help deploy security risk assessments to identify the impact of vulnerabilities to the SaaS environment; deploy and operate monitoring technology to identify risks, be involved in the recommendation of mitigating controls and assist in the implement of those controls. This engineer will work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, flexible environment with a wide array of responsibilities across the organization. The person is expected to be a team player with good problem solving, organizational and verbal and written communication skills.
Help in implementation of strategies for threat analysis and vulnerability assessments
Work with development teams to carry out Application Security Reviews
Provide expert advice and consultancy to internal customers on risk assessment, threat modeling and fixing vulnerabilities
Design, implement and support security-focused tools and services
Develop security policies and procedures
Participate in security compliance efforts (e.g., SOX, SSAE-16)
Evangelize security within the company and be an advocate for customer trust
Evaluate new and emerging security products and technologies
Participate in tier 2 and tier 3 security operations support
Performing log analysis and participating in the incident response lifecycle Required
BS in Computer Science or equivalent required with at least 5 years hands-on experience in IT security and risk management
Several years of application security experience
Several years experience in vulnerability testing and auditing
Experience working with development team(s) that delivered commercial software or software-based services (development, QA testing, or security role)
Solid experience and technical knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security
Knowledge of threat modeling or other risk identification techniques
Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques
Development experience in Java or C++ or C or Ruby
Scripting skills (e.g., Perl, Python shell scripting)
Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols, etc.)
Knowledge of IDS/IPS and SIEM systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent teamwork skills
Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated
Strongly Desired Skills:
Familiarity with at least one compliance framework: ITIL, ISO 27001/27002, COBIT, NIST, FISMA, PCI, SSAE-16
CISSP, GIAC certification or equivalent preferred
Experience implementing and managing security in highly-available, highly-scaled systems, including clustered and/or distributed applications
General experience with security audits, compliance, prevention, and procedures related to same.
